Man burnt during scuffle with Molotov cocktail

Police reported that at about 3.30 pm on Friday, 59-year-old Anthony Lalla, of Jacob Hill, Wallerfield Gardens, Wallerfield, was at home when he got into a heated confrontation with his 50-year-old neighbour.

The 50-year-old man eventually left the area, but returned about five minutes later with his 18-year-old son and a 45-year-old friend, armed with a cutlass and the Molotov cocktail. The 50-year-old man once again confronted Lalla, threatening to harm the elderly man.

One of Lalla’s sons came to his assistance and during the ensuing fracas, the cocktail was thrown on the teenager.

The young man was engulfed in flames and after he was assisted, was rushed to the Arima District Health Facility and the police were contacted about the incident.

The young man was eventually rushed to the EWMSC, and up to late yesterday was still being treated.
