Gillezeau starts strong at KFC Squash
Gillezeau made no mistake and trounced two male and two female athletes without dropping a set. The seasoned squash player breezed past Alex MacKay 11-9, 11-6, 11-3 and Jacob Ammon 11-4, 11-6, 11-3. He then went on to beat Talia Abdool 11-3, 14-12, 11-3 and Emily Farah 11-6, 11-4, 11-3.
Top female player Charlotte Knaggs also secured two important wins in the Girls Under-17 division. Knaggs comfortably beat Angelique Jackson 11-9, 11-3, 11-2 and went on to Brianna Winford 11-1, 11-4, 11-2.
The male equivalent also saw Darnell Gittens and Christian Edghill achieve easy wins over Luke Asiu. Gittens won 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 while Edghill emerged the victor with an almost flawless 11-0, 11-0, 11-1 win over Asiu.
Meanwhile, Faith Gillezeau, sister of Jacob, recorded the only win in the Girls Under-15 category when she eased past Amanda Jackson 11-1, 11-1, 11-3.
Chad Salandy then strolled into the next round via walkover against Brandon Boocock in the Boys equivalent.
The Under-13 Boys division also saw Nicholas Caddle move past Kobie Khan 11-1, 11-4, 11-8. Additionally, Marie Claire Barcant defeated Gabby Scott 11-7, 11-3,
11-3.
