PCA interviews three eyewitnesses to shooting death

Newsday understands that the head of the PCA Gillian Lucky ordered that the three eyewitnesses be interviewed by PCA investigators so that statements can be taken to assist the authority in their investigation.

Contacted yesterday Lucky said her team of investigators had already began probing the shooting death and statements were being recorded.

Newsday also understands Lucky will meet today with senior police officers investigating the shooting.

Several other persons who also claimed to have witnessed the shooting are also expected to furnish the PCA with statements.

Dean was reportedly in company with three men at La Horquette Road, Glencoe, at about 7.30 pm on Friday, when police officers stopped the vehicle he was driving. The police officers claimed they shot Dean after he escaped when they were searching him.

They also claimed he stabbed one of the policemen twice in the hand and they were forced to shoot, hitting him once.

Eyewitnesses stated that Dean was shot in the back while running from the officers.

It was also alleged a quantity of marijuana was found in Dean’s underwear.

An autopsy is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, today.
