PowerGen clinch first innings points
Resuming on 124 for two in their first innings at the Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair, PowerGen’s captain Gregory Mahabir was dismissed by Sunil Narine for 62, and they lost their last seven wickets for 82 runs to be bowled out for 216.
Number nine Ansil Bhagan (34) was the only other PowerGen batsman to put up a substantial score on the day, as Barbados quick bowler Miguel Cummins (four wickets for 50 runs) and left-arm spinner Khary Pierre (3/35) were the chief wicket-takers for the Parkites.
Despite the presence of national players Kieron Pollard, Jeremey Solozano, Yannick Cariah, Akeal Hosein and Kevon Cooper in line-up - Queen’s Park then were restricted to 166 in their reply. Hosein (33) was the only Parkites batsman to score beyond 25.
Bhagan also did well with the ball clinching four wickets for 46 with his off-breaks, while left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh and Jovan Ali supported with two wickets each.
With a 50 run first-innings lead secured, PowerGen closed on 22/2 with captain Pollard opening the bowling with his medium pace, clinching the wickets of both openers Adrian Paharry and Keron Kanhai for ducks.
