Technocrats sweep Flow Volleyball opener

In the curtain raiser, the female squad swept Glamorgan Volleyball Club 3-0. Technocrats won the opening set by a slim twopoint margin (26-24) and steadily improved into the second period (25-18). Glamorgan continued to search for a life-line in third set but were again outdone 25-20 by a clearly in-form Vaughn Martin- coached Technocrats unit.

Kelly-Anne Billingy led all scorers with 13 points for the winning team while Renele Forde chipped in with 11pts and Nicolette De Mille seven. Reann Young (9pts) led Glamorgan’s while Jalicia Ross-Kyd had eight points.

In the men’s equivalent, Technocrats clawed back from a set down to clinch a 3-2 victory over Glamorgan.

After losing the opener 18-21, Technocrats buckled down to grasp 25-20, 26-24 wins in the following sets. Glamorgan then drew level in the fourth (13-25) but were unable to maintain their fighting spirit, bowing out in the decider 17-15 to see Technocrats sweep the opening night of competition.

Action in this year’s Flow Premier League continues on Tuesday at the same location with the Southern United Volleyball (SUV) Association females going up against University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT ) and the SUV males squaring off with Toco Youths Volleyball Academy.
