Connection coach disappointed after Lucozade final loss

Caledonia fought back twice to lock the scores at 2-2, at the end of regulation time, and they went on to win 4-1 courtesy of kicks from the penalty mark.

W Connection also failed to capitalise on their man advantage after Morvant Caledonia United’s Ranaldo Bailey was sent off for two bookable offences.

W Connection were a man up for close to 30 minutes with the score 2-1 in their favour but could not hold off their rivals who equalised through Sheldon Holder’s second item.

Charles-Fevrier, who lost his second straight Lucozade Goal Shield final, commented on Sunday after the defeat, “I want to congratulate Caledonia on their victory.

Caledonia (are) a team that work very hard. I’m really happy for them.

“As for us, I thought it was a tough loss,” he admitted.

“I thought we controlled almost the whole game, I thought we played a good game.

Where it went wrong for us in my opinion is that we conceded a goal late. It was a brilliant strike and it carried (the game) to penalties.

And you know with penalties anything is possible” Charles-Fevrier continued, “but I also felt we scored five goals in the game but three were disallowed. And I really have to watch the tape to see if all those (disallowed) goals were off-side.

All and all, I was pleased with the effort of the players. I didn’t thought it was a game that we deserved to lose but that’s football sometimes. The better team does not always win.” The Connection team were due to leave yesterday for Haiti, to compete in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championships Final Round this weekend.
