Man shot dead, boy 14, critical

In the first incident according to reports residents of the Housing Development Corporation Maloney Gardens complex reported hearing gunshots around 8pm and contacted police.

When officers arrived they found Sunil Mohammed lying in a pool of blood with several gunshot wounds about the body.

He was taken to the Arima District Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Police are seeking to ascertain a motive for the killing.

In the second shooting, 14-year-old Jerrel Roberts from Pioneer Drive, Sea Lots suffered a gunshot wound to the head at about 1.30 am yesterday while participating in Jouvert celebrations, normally held for Carnival, in the area.

Police report the street parade was unauthorised. Roberts is warded at Port-of-Spain General Hospital in critical condition.
