Hit-and-run leaves man critical
The victim, Ezekiel Burton, 19, hails from Old Trainline in Arima.
Nearby CCTV cameras captured images of the incident which was uploaded on social media.
Newsday understands that the accident occurred at about 7 am at Malabar Extension, Arima, opposite the Pro Sports Bar.
In the video, Burton is seen stepping out onto the road at the same time the driver of a black-coloured sedan, a 30-year-old man from East Trinidad, was driving at high speed along the road. The collision sent Burton hurtling several feet in the air. The car stopped, reversed and sped off.
The driver, Newsday was told, later went to the Arima Police Station and made a report.
He is currently assisting police in their investigations.
Burton remains warded in critical conditon at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.
