Daaga a man of courage
When I look at Mr Daaga’s life his camaraderie stands out, the way he was able to bring together people and unite them for a common goal. To do this is not as easy, it will take a level of charisma and genuis to make this a reality. The man was able to sell a revelation to thousands, who grasped it and ran with it, that all people are equal and must be treated like this. His courage must also be mentioned for without that he would not have taken that leading role in the movement. Not knowing how people and the government would react to this movement marching etc, he challenged the status quo and was successful.
This took determination, not fearing for your life and fully persuaded in what you believe.
Finally this man brought about change in Trinidad and Tobago, no one can doubt that his life did not grace our twin island by touching many lives and revolutionising a certain way of thinking.
At that time it was never heard of coloured people working in certain institutions, that did change and Mr Daaga did contribute to this.
Mr Daaga did his part and has left us a beautiful legacy of camaraderie, courage and change.
