Late pay for NCRHA staff

A source said salaries were to be paid last Friday, but on Monday they were informed that this would not be possible because the NCRHA had received late allocations of funds.

The workers had re-ceived a memo from chief executive officer at the NCRHA, Kumar Boodram, who said he was working with the Health Ministry to ensure that salaries were paid by August 30.

When contacted on Tuesday, Boodram said it was difficult to say what caused the delay in payment to staff, but salaries had been sent out.

“It was a late payment, but as we speak I can confirm that those who are banking with Republic Bank, Royal Bank and Scotiabank have received their salaries. Those who are with FCB (First Citizens’ Bank) and JMMB (Jamaica Money Market Brokers) would receive theirs later this evening (Tuesday). These are the main players in terms of our bankers.

We worked over the weekend to have it resolved by this morning,” he said.

Some staff members said they had mortgages and other bills to pay and late payment with their salaries would cause them to incur unnecessary interest.
