Hart slams senior players after 4-0 drubbing

With the defeat, Trinidad and Tobago finished second in Group Three and will face Costa Rica next when the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying begins in November.

The final round of qualifying will include the top six teams in CONCACAF popularly known as the “Hex.” After the loss against USA Hart stated, “The good thing we are in the hex but tonight’s (Tuesday) performance I was extremely disappointed in the quality of our passing, our general lack of movement and we were second best to every ball. Three of the goals we gave away the ball with sloppy sloppy passing and United States were breaking with energy and numbers and that is the result you get when you make mistakes at this level.” The national footballers were competitive in the first half as USA held on to a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime. However, TT fell apart in the second half. “We were looking okay (in the first half), I would not say we were very good. We were not getting any shots on net and then we gave up an unfortunate sort of goal. But again we gave away that goal and we just made too many errors.” The Soca Warriors will now focus on the Caribbean Cup in October while Hart said that the team’s top players need to show up.

“We have the Caribbean Cup and I think I have to look very closely at the selection going into the Caribbean Cup. We have to realise we have some soul searching to do and some of the big players would have to answer for it because our leaders (on Tuesday night) far too many of them disappeared.”
