Bullet-riddled body found in Caroni, burnt remains in Caura

Police and emergency services were contacted and officers of the Central Division responded. Preliminary investigations by police determined Samuel may have been shot at least six times, including four times in the head. The body was taken to the Forensic science Centre, St James for an autopsy.

Relatives told Newsday Samuel left his home years ago, and had been in and out of Venezuela for a number of years. The last time his family saw him was about a month ago, when he returned to the house in Tunapuna to borrow a sum of money. The news came as a shock as relatives never knew him to be involved in any illicit activity.

The murder toll for the year has now risen to 315. And the charred remains of a human were discovered in the Caura area yesterday morning. According to reports, a pile of burnt “debris” was seen at least three days ago by residents at Caura Royal Road. However, it wasn’t until yesterday morning that residents checked the rubble and discovered skeletal remains. The police were immediately contacted and officers led by Cpl Bennett of the Central Division responded
