Shiva stay top of Premiership

A lone item from striker Tyrell Baptiste in the second period of play was just enough to separate to two south teams and provide Shiva with their second consecutive win of the tournament thus far, having trumped Presentation College San Fernando 3-1 in their opening encounter lat week.

Fyzabad Secondary trail closely behind on four points as they battled to salvage a 2-2 result at home against winless St Augustine. At the half-time break, the visitors seemed to have control of the affair with a two-goal lead courtesy strikes from Anthony Samuel and Rahim Gordon. But the ‘Fyzo’ boys would have none of it and rallied to maintain their second place position on the rankings due to goals from Ken Bhola and Shakeel Louison in the second period.

In other matches, Trinity Moka leapt eight places up the ladder into third position by getting past hosts San Juan North 2-1. Meanwhile, Queen’s Royal College (QRC) travelled to Tobago and locked horns with Signal Hill Secondary. This encounter would however end in a stalemate with QRC’s Darrius Dickson being red-carded in this heated affair. Presentation College San Fernando got off the mark in their second league meeting as they squeezed past Fatima College 1-0 courtesy an early goal from Jarod Gordon in the 10th minute. And in the final game played yesterday, Pleasantville Secondary and St Mary’s College drew at one-apiece.

Additionally, the northern clash between St Anthony’s and East Mucurapo was postponed to a later date while defending champions Naparima College were on a bye.
