Language can determine your success
Because of the uniqueness and di- versity of language, there is an innate power within, that illuminates your mind to think and focus on the awesome positivity that awaits you.
There are some, who demean their very existence through the language they use to describe who they are. For example, if you continuously compare yourself to others thinking that you are of a lesser value, then people would start thinking of and treating with you in a humiliating fashion.
Such circumstances present opportunities for low self-esteem and low self-confidence.
A major ingredient in language is intent and that intent begins with you, and how you feel about you.
Always define yourself with the super-I — I can, I choose, I enjoy and desist from using ambiguous statements such as I don’t know, I am not certain, Perhaps I will. These denote low self-assurance.
Our use of language is a reflection of our thoughts, our mind and our entire outlook, and therefore, careful attention must be paid at all times to what is said as well as the objectives of our intentions. Language is evolutionary, and should never be used stereotypically.
For instance, the language you would use to communicate with your child must change as the child approaches adulthood.
This approach also aids the child in better understanding maturity and the responsibility that comes with it.
Presenting ideas within different jurisdictions would determine whether or not our objectives would be achieved. The effectiveness of our language has much to do with the expected outcomes that we have set. There is a fear in many women to express and assert themselves to demand what they want. Change to I have or I choose instead of I want or Maybe and the responses to your requests would be more forthcoming. Avoid the use of phrases such as I’ll try or I guess, as these allow for failure; they also place some measure of doubt in the minds of your listeners, about your ability to complete the task.
According to Robert Tennyson Stevens, founder of Mastery Systems Corporation, USA and creator of a personal development method called Conscious Language, “our choice of language can either hamper or enhance our ability to create the experiences of our choosing.” Stevens shared some tips on how one’s vocabulary can be adjusted.
Remember that speaking is a self-fulfilling prophecy, as where your words lead, your body follows.
Keep your language first-person personal…don’t say, you, when you really mean I. Speak about the present moment whenever possible.
Be specific and direct and don’t pollute your language by speaking in circles.
Speak powerfully and positively and forego the language limitations.
