Law studies in jeopardy, Gabriel needs your help

Glanville is scheduled to travel to England on Monday to commence his Law studies at London University, a programme that will last three years, at the end of which he will receive his LLB

However, he is not yet in possession of all of the funds to fund his tuition for the three year period

With the passing of his father, Glenford, Glanville secured a job at Hove and Associates, a law firm in Port-of-Spain. Additionally, he worked for other attorneys as a legal assistant gaining valuable experience to help him in his career as an attorney. Determined to pursue his education and assist his mother, he also took up a weekend job, ironing shirts for people at a rate of $10 per shirt

Glanville’s mother, Joan Thomas, a retired secondary school teacher, explained the family’s situation

“His father had his leg amputated in November last year, so all of us had to put up the money to help his recovery. But he eventually died, because he was just taking it on. It cost a lot of money because we had to get a nurse to help him and so on. So all of that throw us back. And then he died. That is how Gabriel had to do little odd jobs to raise money

Now I am retired and I haven’t gotten my gratuity yet.” Thomas said the situation has put a lot of strain on her family

“My adopted daughter is doing medicine in Jamaica, and it’s a lot of money to send out. So we’re just looking to see if anybody could assist.” Glanville’s interest in law goes back to Standard 4, while a student at Rosary Boys R.C. School in Port-of-Spain. It was strengthened when he started to view Judge Mathis on CW11

“Every time I came home from school, I used to watch this show,” Glanville said

“I always wanted to be a judge; it’s only after I found out you had to be a lawyer first. It just kind of stuck with me.” While Glanville’s adopted sister is studying in Jamaica currently, his three brothers are all attorneys-at-law

Glanville has attained nine passes in the Caribbean Secondary Education Cert ificate and seven in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination
