Cain disqualified in Paralympic 200m race
Running out of lane seven in Heat One, Cain entered the race as a contender having clocked the third fastest time (27.32s) this season among her rivals.
However, the national para-athlete veered into an opponent’s lane and was immediately disqualified, bringing to an end her competitive campaign.
But, she will have another shot at a podium place when she lines up in the Women’s 100m T44 race on Saturday.
Meanwhile, sixtime (four gold, two bronze) Junior Parapan medallist Shanntol Ince, concludes her Paralympic journey today when she vies for precious metal in the Women’s 50m freestyle.
And in action tomorrow, world record holder (57.32m) and freshly crowned Paralympic Men’s javelin (F43) gold medallist Akeem Stewart, returns to the field for the Men’s discus. Stewart also holds the world record (63.03m) in this event and is favoured to be among the medals considering his recent run of form on the circuit.
