TTCB Zone elections close today

Four of the zones seem to be throwing their support behind Dinanath Ramnarine and his proposed “one club-one vote” policy as well as the removal of the 12 outgoing votes at the Annual General Meeting which he is describing as undemocratic and unfair. Ramnarine will be opposing current TT CB president Azim Bassarath at the elections on October 29. The South, North, Central and East Zones are leaning towards Ramnarine, while the South-East Zone is in the favour of Bassarath.

The North-East Zone seems too close to call at the moment while the South-West Zone will hold their elections today.

On Tuesday night, the Central, North-East and East Zones all held their elections to select their six zone representatives.

In the Central Zone, Ramnarine was one of the six persons voted in as a zone representative with 26 votes. Others voted in as club representatives in Central were Keith Joseph (26 votes), Anderson Ramdath (27), Hadeed Ali (26), Raymond Lutchman (27) and Navin Chatoor (26).

In the North-East Zone, Arjoon Ramlal (19), John Lewis (17), Preston Sam (18), Ravi Motilal (17), Erica Baptiste- Ramkissoon and Lakshman Lochan all earned enough votes and will represent the zone. Baptiste-Ramkissoon and Lochan were among six people who received 15 votes in the first round but the pair earned enough votes in the second round to win.

In the East Zone, Kirt Francis, Aslim Mandol, Leslie Thomas, Brenda Solozano, Sharaz Mohammed and Kelvin Arneaud all received 18 votes which was enough to see them emerge victorious.

The National League Club representatives were also selected with Ramnarine (43), Anil Kamal (67), Camal Basdeo (45), Clint Pamphille (41), former West Indies opener Daren Ganga (45) and West Indies leg spinner Samuel Badree (41) coming out on top.
