Jockey Ali lands Goliath’s Boy in Santa Rosa feature
Always tracking Simple Side who tried to make it all, Ali sent his mount for home at the turn, and he glided away to0 a 1 3/4 length victory.
It was a day when trainers Bobby Persad and Harriram “Pepsi” Gobnin shared the honours, both saddling two winners each.
There were some good returns on the tote, with surprise winner Ten Melodies the best, paying $16.40 and $3.60.
While Veins Of Gold rewarded backers with $8.55 and $3.35.
With just another three months racing left, the battle for the jockeys title continues to rage on with Ali holding on to the lead with 35 winning rides, while defending champion Prayven Badrie is on 32.
Now it is on to Derby Day on Republic Day holiday, Saturday.
