BHP begins Angostura production
The Angostura Phase 3 Project has been underway since November 2013, when BHP Billiton and its joint-venture partners, the National Gas Company and Chaoyang (a joint venture established by CNOOC International Ltd and SIN OPEC Overseas Oil and Gas Ltd) signed an agreement with the Government to extend the Block 2(c) production sharing contract for an additional five years.
This effectively extended production from 2021 to 2026. Phase 1 of the Angostura field development consisted of the onset of oil production from 2005, while Phase 2 added the commencement of gas export in 2011.
President of BHP Billiton Petroleum, Steve Pastor, said, “The commencement of production from Angostura Phase 3 on time and on budget demonstrates BHP Billiton’s commitment to safety and efficient delivery.” He added, “This again shows our confidence in our operations in TT.” BHP Billiton Country Manager Vincent Pereira said the company achieved an exceptional outcome on the project.
“I am very proud of the stellar performance and world class delivery of this project by our team,” he said.
