Rocke leads TT hockey men to penalty win
With the scores deadlocked at 2-2 at the end of regulation time TT prevailed in the penalty shootout 4-1. TT won three of the four matches in the series while the other match ended in a draw.
Barbados scored the opening goal for the third consecutive match in this series through Akeem Rudder in the 17th minute via a penalty corner but TT quickly responded four minutes later with a penalty corner of their own put away by Kieron Emmanuel in the 21st minute. The euphoria of scoring definitely worked against the home team as Kris Holder regained the lead for the visitors only a minute after TT’s equaliser. TT’s blushes were saved though, as they once again converted a penalty corner in the 45th minute to level the match at the end of regulation, this time through Akim Toussaint.
In the penalty shootout TT custodian Andrey Rocke was certainly the hero as Barbados were only able to convert their first penalty through Laurando Davis. Che Warner, Justin Catlin and regulation time goalscorers Rudder and Holder, were all thwarted by Rocke while Teague Marcano, Marcus Pascal, Shaquille Daniel and Toussaint all converted to hand TT the 4-1 win on penalties.
