PNM Local Government candidates chosen

In August,Valentine was rejected by the PNM’s screening committee to stand for re-election. Valentine was elected mayor earlier this year following the resignation of former mayor, Raymond Tim Kee, who made controversial remarks made in the wake of the murder of female Japanese pannist, Asami Nagakiya. The committee is chaired by Prime Minister and political leader, Dr Keith Rowley. Other candidates chosen for the Port-of-Spain Corporation are Charlene De Peza (Southern Port-of-Spain) and Akil Durham (Belmont North and West).

Anthony Wolfe (Manzanilla) and Paul Mongolas (Sangre Grande North/East) were chosen for the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.

In the Chaguanas Borough Corporation, Shodan Mahabir (Felicity/Endeavour), Sharda Singh (Montrose) and Sabeer Ali (Charlieville) were chosen. Josan Moses (Wallerfield/La Horquetta), Christel Ariel Alexis ( La Florissant/ Lopinot), Narine Mahabir (St Augustine South/ Oropune) and Claude Belle (Kelly Village/ Warrenville) were chosen under the Tunapuna/ Piarco Regional Corporation.
