Missing man found dead near oil well

Cousin Sarah Dookie, 25, asked yesterday, “Who would want to kill Malcolm? He was such a nice and helpful person, liked by all.

Up to yesterday (Monday) when we got the news they had found his body we were still hoping that he would have come back home.” Dookie’s body was discovered on Monday afternoon near an oil well in one of Petrotrin’s oilfield roads in Santa Flora by Sgt Ramsingh, Cpl Thompson, PCs Singh and Hosein, along with other officers of the Penal CID who, acting on information, went into the area.

Reports stated that the body was wrapped in the same tarpaulin Dookie used in his transport business. His killers, police said, placed a couch on his body while his hands were tied behind his back. He was still dressed in the work coverall he was wearing on the day he went missing. His van has not been found.

Yesterday family members appealed to loved ones leaving home to always leave behind a note stating their whereabouts.

“We don’t know who called him out or where he went. We heard he went to Morne Diablo to make a delivery but we are not sure and that’s why you must always state where you and going and with who.” On September 15, Dookie, of San Francique, Penal left home for work. He returned home later that morning to go out on, what relatives believe might have been a private job as he had his own transport company. He, however, never returned.

His aunt, Sherida Dookie asked, “Why are these killers taking away people’s children from them? If they wanted his vehicle they could have taken it and left him.” At 28, relatives said the young man had already built his own home, had his own business and vehicle and was looking forward to settling down one day and raising a family.

Dookie, relatives said, shared a close relationship with his mother Cynthia Dookie and that was why she felt something was wrong when she kept calling his phone and got no response.

An autopsy scheduled for yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre St James was put off for today.
