Elderly treated cruelly at clinic

I have always heard of the chaos that occurs there but sadly I witnessed it for myself.

There must have been close to 300 people in the waiting area, some there from as early as 6 am.

While some of them, like myself, were accompanying patients, the majority were patients, most of them elderly people, and also children.

This clinic, from what am told, starts at 8 am and conducts its business by appointments.

The patient I accompanied arrived at around 9 am since he had a 10 am appointment.

As he waited I mingled with some of the patients and heard of their complains.

Imagine getting to the clinic at 6 am for an 8 am appointment and not being attended to until 2 pm, if lucky.

Or reaching in time for a 10 am appointment and not being attended to after 3 pm. Some patients even had to make another appointment because their medical files could not be located.

That is a waste of people’s time. This has happened on several occasions to the patient I went with.

Something needs to be done urgently to address this situation.

There cannot be a continuation of this.

It is extremely cruel to all patients but more so the elderly and young children.
