Pachon takes stage two of Tobago Cycling Classic

Pachon, who won the 2014 UCI Tour of Tobago event, won the four-lap event ahead of second placed Aurelin Daniel ((France/Team Econ Car Rentals) and third placed Jaime Ramirez (Colombia/ Team Cocos).

Finishing fourth was Andrea Ramirez of Team Krieger, while stage one winner Arno Van Der Zwet (Netherlands/ PSL) had to settle for eighth place in stage two. However, Van Der Zwet is currently the overall leader after two of the four stages. In division two yesterday, Enrique De Comarmond (TT /Heatwave) was the winner which saw cyclists pedal for 50km over two laps.

Jabari Whiteman (TT / Southclaine), who is the overall leader in division two, finished second while Andrew Hick (Guyana/Sonics) was third.

After the win, Pachon was satisfied and said the victory will boost Team Cocos’ confidence for the remainder of the competition.

He said, “we are very happy because we did (place) one (and) three in the race and it is good motivation for the team for the next race coming up.” Pachon admitted that the familiar conditions helped his team’s strong showing.

“We came here before and I knew how to get ready for it so we did the right training work back home and we came ready for it.” The cyclists will rest today before competing in stage three on Friday followed by stage four on Saturday.

The Tobago International Cycling Classic will culminate with the UCI 1.2 Tour of Tobago on Sunday.
