Body in garbage bags

Central Division police are trying to determine the man’s identity by checking his fingerprints with those saved in the Police Fingerprint Database but are also calling on members of the public to assist by coming forward with the name of any loved one who is missing and who matches the victim’s description.

According to reports, the body was discovered by a CEPEP worker who was walking along Chorro Bridge near Mission Road in Freeport at about six o’clock yesterday morning. Police were alerted and detectives and crime scene officers cordoned off the area around the body.

The District Medical Officer later examined the body and noted what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.

The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James where an autopsy will be done once formal identification is made.

Sources told Newsday the victim is of East Indian descent, in his late 40s and of slim build.

The body was clad in a multi-coloured t-shirt and blue jeans.

Investigations are continuing.
