London to lay ‘foundation’ for next Chief Secretary

London said before he leaves office, he will focus on making that person’s transition easier. The Chief Secretary said that person “will have to accept what is, build on it, and enhance it”.

He sees his role as ensuring that he leaves a strong foundation that will allow the “next person” to another level.

London said systems are being put in place that will help the incoming Chief Secretary.

“Whosoever sits in this chair, it’s going to be very challenging,” he said. “But the point about it is that I have a responsibility to alleviate some of those challenges that the new leader…will face.”
