PoS leads local govt bodies

The local government body receiving the lowest allocation for the 2017 fiscal year is the Penal/ Debe Regional Corporation which is controled by the Opposition United National Congress (UNC).

That allocation was $74,071,000. Local government elections are constitutionally due later this year.

The PNM and UNC have already chosen their respective slate of candidates.

The document also shows the Rural Development and Local Government Ministry having the new expenditure of $425,000 for 2017 for the Community Based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP).

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley reassigned CEPEP from the Public Utilities Ministry to this ministry on August 25.

There are no allocations for the Solid Waste Management Company for 2016 or 2017.
