Van Der Zwet, Rodman win Tobago stage titles

Sanchez took the Scarborough circuit for the second straight year, however, Van Der Zwet’s 25 points - earned in his third place finish - helped him amass 90 points to take the overall crown and the top prize of TT$5,000.

He also collected an addition TT$1,500 for his victory in Stage One on Tuesday at Shirvan ($1000) and third place in Scarborough ($500). Another Dutch/ PSL cyclist Nick Stopler was second overall with 73 points. Patrick Moren of Sweden, ensured a PSL team-sweep as he was third, narrowly edging out Aurelien Daniel (France/Team Econo Car Rental). Both totalled 66 points but Moren got the nod for third as he beat Daniel in the final stage.

Last year’s overall winner Marloe Rodman of Jamaica was a distant seventh overall while stage winner Sanchez was tenth.

Rodman held on to the Sprint Prime trophy for another year with 241 points ahead of Stopler (237) and Christian Torres (Colombia/ Team Foundation) 180.

In the Wilson Road Criterium, Rodman won four of the 10 Sprint laps and was second and third in two other circuits.

The Spanish Town, Jamaica resident missed out on a second title as he was second in the ‘Fast & Furious’ Road Keirin finals behind team-mate Australian Tyler Spurrell.

Argentine Jose Rivera (Team Econo Car Rental) was third with local Adam Alexander (Team Foundation) and Venezualan Luiz Diaz (The Braves) following.

The Martinique pair of Jean-Emmanuel Laurendot and Michael Stanislaus were sixth and seventh while Jamaican Oshane Williams (The Braves) and Cole were eighth and ninth respectively.

Fifteen year old Jabari Whiteman (TT/Southclaine) claimed the Division Two overall honours with 49 points after winning the Scarborough 20 lap leg.

The Santa Flora resident edged out the Guyanese duo of Andrews Hicks (Rig Tech Sonics), 37 points and Romello Crawford (PSL/RBC), 35 points. At the Scarborough stage, Whiteman finished ahead of Crawford and Tremaine Forde Catwell (Barbados/ Swift) to cop his first victory after he was third in the first stage and second in the second and third stages. Whiteman was the top under 17 rider while Crawford was best in the under 19 category.

Desiree Ehrler (Switzerland/ Team Eleven) took the Women’s Open class ahead of Caroline Baur (Switzerland/Team Eleven) and Christiane Farah (TT/PSL).

Brent Hurdle (TT/Breakaway) secured the Masters 40-49 division while Ted Muir (Tobago/ Easy Goers) was the top Master 50-59 rider.

The TT/PSL duo of Foster Francois and Codrington Joefield were first and second in the Masters Over 60 division.

D’Angelo Harris (TT/Rigtech Sonics) competed unbeaten in Division three with wins in Plymouth and Scarborough to tally 20 points.

Tariq Woods (TT/Team Woods),14 points and Dexter Henry (Tobago/Unattached), 10 points were second and third respectively in both stages behind Harris.
