Exempt poor pensioners from new tax

As the minister said, properties would have to valuated before the final tax is evaluated.

Citizens in the lower income bracket would have spent many years using their finances to continue building the final product which they call home.

Most retired people in the lower income bracket receive a meagre pension which only allows them to pay bills and other necessary expenses. They may keep a small bank account for emergency medical expenses.

I ask on behalf of all pensioners with disposable incomes at $125,000 annually to be exempted from this draconian tax that would place them in perpetual debt, in their golden years. Their pensions continue to be taxed even after paying tax all their working life. I ask Finance Minister Colm Imbert if this is fair? His tax collection efforts continue to have loopholes, especially among those who are self-employed.

And the rich will always find a way to “fix” their accounts.

His collection efforts continue to benefit the rich and make them richer.

Housing Development Corporation apartments (rent or rent-toown) are being exempted so I ask for equity to be applied. If not, the homes of many poor people would be sold and citizens would be on the streets. And these people were nation builders at one time.
