Bassarath keeping low profile for TTCB election
Bassarath is hoping to be elected for a third consecutive term by defeating the opposing team led by former West Indies spinner Dinanath Ramnarine. Ramnarine and his team, which includes former West Indies opener and TT captain Daren Ganga, have been busy in the local media making appearances on local television and doing interviews with the daily newspapers, attempting to whip up support and highlight the issue of the 12 outgoing votes currently enjoyed by the incumbent regime which they have described as undemocratic and unfair.
Those votes could prove decisive at the elections. on the other hand, Bassarath is choosing to remain relatively silent leading up to the elections. the only contact Bassarath has made with the local media in the past weeks was a press release sent on October 5, highlighting the TTCB’s accomplishments in recent times.
He has been repeatedly declining interviews for close to a month. Last week he told Newsday he would be speaking at a press conference this week but yesterday indicated via text message that there would no press conference anymore. “No bro. We want to keep out of the press,” he said.
