Grandpa kills self with shotgun

The father and grandfather of six of Fyzabad Branch Road, Sudama Village, Fyzabad was identified as the person found with gunshot wounds to the chest in his vehicle which was parked near an oil well in remote Forest Reserve Road, Fyzabad.

A shotgun was lying next to him.  Chandersingh and his wife would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on Saturday. He had been ailing for the last three months. “He used to say he was fed-up and wanted to end his life. But he was such a nice person that I could have never believed he would have done something like that,” cried Ramsingh.

Family members however are however shocked over his use of a gun to take his life. According to the woman, her husband was diabetic who also had heart problems, hypertension and suffered a minor stroke. He also underwent surgery for his spine and for hernia.

“He was always in pain, always crying and was unable to sleep at nights because of his discomfort.” On Tuesday morning when he woke, Ramsingh said that her husband told her he felt as though he was having a heart attack. At 10 am on Tuesday, he left home for his routine drive and never returned. “I didn’t think he was going to do that. I know he wanted to get better — anything he tell me to boil for him to drink, I used to do it,” she cried. An autopsy was expected to be performed yesterday at the Forensic science Centre, st James.
