She asked if Rowley will follow her principled lead in firing ministers despite consequences, or whether he just practices hypocritical and cheap politics. In a statement, she said Al-Rawi’s remarks that he is not under probe has demonstrated his unfitness for office. Saying the AG cannot be a judge in his own case, she said his words during the ongoing probes were “reckless, irresponsible and improper”.
She that under the Constitution the AG is legal advisor to the Government, and his declaration of innocence could unduly sway the agencies probing the case.
“It is inevitable that legal advice will be sought from different quarters of the State machinery and the chief advisor to each and every arm of the State is the Attorney General,” she said.

“It was entirely improper, reckless and irresponsible for the Attorney General to have made these statements.
Such statements can only serve to prejudice any investigation and instil a degree of fear of prejudice in those that are to conduct any such investigation.” Persad-Bissessar alleged that the Government’s sudden move to buy out the leave of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) will be seen as a payoff to ensure support and cooperation.
Rowley’s attack on the army has unfairly put the CDS in a compromising position
