Countdown to UWI Half- Marathon

Over 1,000 runners from Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean, North and Latin America are expected to compete in Sunday’s race, including 2015 champions Richer Perez of Cuba (male) and Caroline Kiptoo (Kenya), top local road-runners Tonya Nero, Curtis Cox, Matthew Hagley and Elvis Turner. This is the 13th edition of the UWI SP EC Half Marathon, which will be contested along a traffic-free route.

At stake will be over TT $135,000 in prizes, including US$2,000 jackpots for the respective Open International male and female winners. There will also be cash prizes for the top three finishers in the respective age-groups, as well as various categories including UWI students and staff, differently- abled athletes and physically challenged athletes.

Cash incentives valued at US$1,000 are also on offer for the runners who break the course records - one hour five minutes and seven seconds (male) and one hour 12 minutes and eight seconds (female).
