Hosein defends new law
Hosein was responding to those who criticised the move by the Council of the City Corporation to pass a bye-law making it an offence to feed the homeless on the streets instead of a designated facility such as the Centre for Displaced Persons.
He said the Centre, when completed, will provide the homeless with three meals per day, bathroom facilities, basic medical attention, and a place to overnight if they wish to do so. The comprehensiveness of the Centre, therefore, would render it unnecessary to feed the homeless on the streets.
