Yearling Sale at Santa Rosa Park on Sunday

That’s the date of this year’s 26th Stud Farm Association of Trinidad and Tobago Yearling Sales at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.

The sales have been brought forward from October 30 “in order to avoid conflict with family Divali ccelebrations.” So far this year, a total of 84 yearlings have been consigned to the sales ring.

Largest consignor to date is the Hillview Ranch of Zanim Meahjohn who is set to put 14 yearlings through the ring, all sired by Speechmaker.

Not far behind is the vaunted Poon Tip Stud Farm with 13 yearlings The mare Pride N Glory, the 2008 Derby winner, has a yearling, a bay colt sired by Louisvilleluminary to be at the sales.

Another interesting yearling will be the chestnut colt by Da Vinci out of Adoring Ruby.

At last year’s sales, a chestnut filly by Charismatic Cat out of Lte’s Go Honey from the Poon Tip Farm fetched the top price of $150,000 from leading owner Shivam Maharaj.

A total of $1,968,000 was splurged on yearlings last year.
