Fire at Bang Bang clothing store

In a telephone interview, Acting Chief Fire Officer Roosevelt Bruce stated the fire broke out just after midnight (yesterday).

“We got the call of a fire close to midnight at Bang Bang Bouquet on Frederick Street and the fire was confined to the third floor. Fire officers from the Wrightson Road station responded.” Bruce commended his fire officers and indicated , “Good fire fighting prevented fire spread to the adjoining businesses and the fire did not migrate to other floors. The clothes store suffered water damage and we had to gain access to extinguish the fire.

The owner was on the scene after, but other than that the store did not suffer any fire damage.” Bruce said fire prevention officers will conduct an investigation to determine what caused the fire, and also to determine an estimated cost in losses. When Newsday visited the scene at about 7.30 am, fire officers were still on the scene as pedestrians looked on in shock at seeing the popular store almost gutted by fire.
