Shiva Boys go for SSFL crown
Shiva are currently five points clear at the top of the 15-team table, and a win today against relegation threatened Pleasantville at 3.30 pm will hand them the title.
Only a win can seal the title today for Shiva Boys, while second placed Naparima and third placed Presentation San Fernando will be hoping Shiva Boys drop points to keep their title chances alive. Both Naparima and Presentation are on 26 points with the former only ahead by goal difference. Shiva Boys have the easiest schedule remaining of the three teams as they face 13th placed Pleasantville today and 14th placed Fatima in the final round on Wednesday.
Naparima play 10th placed East Mucurapo before closing the season against fifth placed St Augustine. Presentation tackle sixth placed St Mary’s today followed by Pleasantville in the last round.
The race is closer at the bottom of the standings with many teams still desperate for points to stay in the Premier Division and avoid playing Championship Division football next season.
The bottom three teams in the 15-team competition will be relegated at the end of the season.
Tenth placed East Mucurapo and 15th placed St Benedict’s are only separated by six points. Other teams battling to stay in the Premier Division are San Juan North (11th), Queen’s Royal College (12th), Pleasantville (13th) and Fatima (14th).
