Taking flood precautions

In TT we have to deal with flash flooding regularly, when flood waters rise and fall quickly with no advance warning.

However, urban flooding is due to land development where permeable soil is replaced with paved surfaces, resulting in flooding when there is prolonged rainfall.

Floods can also result from deforestation and quarrying.

During heavy rainfall one should be alert and be prepared to evacuate in the event of flooding. Before doing so be certain to shut off electricity at your home or business.

After the flood waters subside one should return with caution, and be sure to dispose of contaminated food and to boil drinking water.

North Coast villages of TT , I empathise with you. I feel your pain.
