Attractive pre-Christmas programme Saturday
Feature of the Arima Race Club 42nd racing day of the season will be a 1700 metres event on the turf course for horses rated 80-60.
According to the overnight programme, there are 97 horses entered will be run off at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Saturday.
Another batch of two-year-olds will be seen in action in a 1200 metres sprint on the main track.
There are some large fields on the day especially the fifth race with 18 horses entered.
Champion jockey Prayven Badrie has been booked for seven rides to make up the five-win leeway with challenger Ronald “Tiger” Ali (42 winners) who has four bookings, if he is to keep his crown.
It is even closer for the apprentice title, with Ridge Balgobin (15) holding a threewin lead over Jovika Boodramsingh (12).
Balgobin is booked for just three rides, but Boodramsingh (j) has six bookings.
Meanwhile, Hi5 wagerers will have over $36,000 to aim at on the single winner bonus, while the bonus on the Superfecta is over $13,000.
