TT women get Italian coach

The announcement was made at a press conference at the Marriot Hotel in Port of Spain, yesterday. Morace will be in charge of the team from January 16, 2017 to June 2019 taking over from Richard Hood who held the position for a little less than one year.

Prior to Hood, American Randy Waldrum took TT to the brink of qualifying for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup but fell just short as a 1-0 loss at the Hasely Crawford Stadium eliminated the national team.

Morace, age 52, has a wealth of experience in women’s and men’s football. Morace served as head coach of Canada’s senior women’s team from 2009-2011 leading that country to winners row at the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup and qualification to the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was also head coach of the Italian National Senior and Under-19 Women’s team. Morace has not only coached women’s teams but she became the first woman to coach a men’s professional football team when she led AS Viterbase of Italy in 1999.

Morace speaking on Skype at the press conference said, “I am delighted to be appointed as the head coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national women’s team and the technical director of women in TT .” “I would like to forget the past years and focus on the journey with a new vision and introduce professionalism.

I have high expectations.

As an experienced international coach I am capable of taking the Warriors to where it is expected to be and I can’t wait to begin and get on the pitch in 2017.”
