The art of ‘Uncovering You’ and Living the life of your dreams

Mills-Francois launched her book Uncovering You: Guide to Living the Life of Your Dreams on December 19, 2016 at the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS).

Among an intimate group of family and friends, Mills-Francois revealed her inner-self and the teachings gained from experiencing trauma early in life.

Mills-Francois lost her parents, at ages four and 14 respectively, to murder/ suicide.

In Uncovering You: Guide to Living the Life of Your Dreams she tells her story but also provides activities for others who might be in search of themselves.

Her story is told from a spiritual base, since it is Mills-Francois’ ardent belief that her faith in God crafted the individual she is today. The book is yet another, although special, accomplishment of Mills-Francois. The image consultant has several businesses and brands among them: ZM Image Consultants, Destined to Shine Academy among several others.

In addressing the audience composed of friends, family, former Laventille East/Morvant MP Donna Cox, co-workers and teachers, Mills-Francois said, “It [book] wasn’t information just about me, it’s about us. It is just my perspective on how you could deal with certain circumstances and move on in life...” Mills-Francois credited her firm base in God for guiding her to where she is today. She said it was not about looking back at circumstances and situations and regretting it but asking God what, “did you want me to learn based on this situation.” At the launch Mills-Francois introduced various people throughout her life who impacted upon her and made her into the person she is today.

“In 2004, then fresh out of university, I never knew this day would come. I never knew that this is the person I would be today. I can look back at my journey and I don’t regret anything along this journey called life,” she said.

Mills-Francois told the audience whatever they were experiencing life at the moment is exactly what they were supposed to be experiencing.

“You are supposed to be where you are now and your future self will look back at that person because that person would have impacted the person you are today,” she said.

She said current situations were a part of one’s life journey.

For her material things matter little on one’s quest but rather it was a matter of what story did you want your life to tell.

“For my journey, I have come to the realisation, all of these things here does not even matter. It does not matter if I have eight businesses. It does not matter if I host over a dozen events, annually.

What matters is what impact am I having on the people I interact with? What is the legacy I am leaving when I am no longer on this earth and that is what really matters to me,” she said.

Mills-Francois said she is at a point in her life where she honestly feels she knows why she is here. “I believe my mission is to be an inspiration to those who have been through a life of adversity and allow them to peel away the layers of guilt, shame, hurt and pain.

To uncover their true self and move on to their journey of living a life of purpose, prosperity and success,” she said.

She had no formula for success but rather informed that success was unique to an individual and it came with discovering one’s purpose.

“If you dig deep within yourself and you are true to yourself, you can do just what the book says and uncover you.” The book is currently available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle edition.
