In the meantime, there is an excellent existing hotel in Tobago boasting Caribbean-wide recognition and acceptability which is winning awards with no special concessions from the government.

The Tobago tourism authorities spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year flying all over the world allegedly promoting the island while neighbouring islands with nowhere near the same expenditure continue to attract greater numbers of tourists than Tobago does.

As with everything else in our country, if at first you don’t succeed, spend more money, so long as it’s the government’s.

What the country refuses to recognize is that foreign exchange flows out of the country into the bank accounts of the wealthy, allegedly to purchase imported goods.

Not all of that money returns to the country, which is why it was necessary for the former Central Bank Governor to identify which entities are the greatest consumers of foreign exchange.

But, of course, it is working class people who must continue to make sacrifices and suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous criticism when they demand their just due.
