Local triathlon gets coaching boost
Coaches from TT as well as other Caribbean nations - Grenada, Barbados, Jamaica, Cayman Islands — will participate in the camp, with facilitators provided by British Triathlon.
The trainers are Emma Brunning, Shaun Green and Scott Murray, all with strong swimming and cycling backgrounds.
The coaching camp entails theory and practice in all the elements of triathlon at the National Aquatic Centre, Couva.
According to TTT F secretary, Karen Araujo, the course addresses the holistic development of the athlete and is intended to give regional coaches the tools to improve the performances at youth and junior levels, with the hope of qualifying for future Pan Am, Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Participation in triathlon at junior level is growing and the Federation intends to introduce the sport to the schools and build multi-sport teams.
