OWTU and TCL to meet this week

A union representative said on Sunday the parties are expected to meet tomorrow and Thursday.

OWTU’s branch president Ahmad Mohammed, said he is optimistic that they would be able to arrive at a resolution regarding the issue of shares owed to workers as well as outstanding Cost of Living Allowances.

“I am optimistic but if we don’t have a favourable response from the company and bring closure and resolution to these outstanding issues, then of course the workers will seek to agitate further,” Mohammed said.

He said TCL workers were becoming frustrated and one could not rule out the possibility of industrial action in light of TCL allegedly failing to issue $20 million in shares to workers.
