Air Guard Sgt laid to rest

Guevara, 38, of Bennet Village, Los Bajos, Santa Flora was on his way home when the accident occurred at about 5.10 am, on April 22. He was the only passenger in an orange B13 car which was proceeding south along SS Erin Road. On reaching Quarry Village, Siparia, the driver lost control and crashed into a WASA main line. Guevara appeared to have been asleep in the front passenger seat and sustained fatal injuries.

Yesterday, hundreds of Guevara’s fellow officers, friends and relatives gathered at the church to say their final goodbye.

His body lay in a casket draped with the national flag which officers carried in a procession along SS Erin Road. Scores of villagers lined the streets as the body was being carried.

Many officers cried openly.

Pastor Junior Julien, officiating at the service, said people must be conscious about how they live their lives.

He told mourners they must careful of what they do and how they carry about themselves.

This, the pastor, said would determine what their consequences would be after death.

Julien said many people fear death, but the time would come when everyone would die.

He said people should concerned about the second death which, he explained, would determine where they would spend eternity.

Guevara was buried at Los Bajos Cemetery.
