Whiteman claims two National Jr gold medals

In the men’s 1km time trial, it was expected to be a keen contest between Whiteman of Heatwave Cycling Club and Je’land Sydney of Rigtech Sonics as both cyclists have impressed during the four-day championship.

Whiteman finished on top to capture the title ahead of Sydney, while Lorenzo Orosco of Team Drive Phase Sport (DPS) was third.

On Saturday, Whiteman and Sydney both claimed gold medals. Whiteman clinched the junior men’s omnium and Sydney, who now lives in Canada, was crowned the junior sprint champion.

In the men’s individual pursuit, Whiteman again finished on top, ahead of Team DPS duo Tyler Cole (silver) and Orosco (bronze).

In the junior women’s 500m time trial, Chenelle Walcott of Team DPS snatched gold ahead of Shania Baptiste of Open Road Challenge.

Enrique De Cormamond of Heatwave was the winner in the men’s juvenile individual pursuit.
