Signs that UNC and COP unfit for office

For it is the height of irresponsibility for the leader of the Opposition to encourage citizens to break the law, misleading them into believing that jail is a place where she would willingly go. Even as I say this, I am ever mindful that if the current Government were to ever prove any of the allegations of corruption against the Kamla Persad-Bissessar government, then it would be more than a few of them who might very well serve some jail time .

To all the hundreds of thousands of homeowners who have disregarded the advice to tear up your tax forms, you are the patriots and the nation builders. My request of the Government is that it moves poste haste to local government reform so that our citizens can derive the benefits of this tax .

To the Minister of Finance who announced a $10 billion savings emanating from the belt-tightening exercises since the last election, you are on the right track. My advice to you would be to let this be real savings and make sure that is not used .

To the Prime Minister who called out the contractors for their unsubstantiated and bloated budgets, you too are on the right track — value for money plus an absence of graft gives us good and honest governance. My request for information would be for you to provide a list of all government contracts (given by the last administration) which were over-inflated or incurred cost overruns, so that we may know the truth and finally have transparency in government .

To Prakash Ramadhar et al who joined a motley group of protesters against the opening of the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, let that be a lesson to you that it was your government’s disregard for all the taxpayers’ dollars already spent on that stadium, which allowed it be vandalised and left to rot, that cost us the taxpayers another set of money to restore .

My advice to the Government is that you accelerate the process to operationalise the Couva Children’s Hospital so that those who protest too much can find the time to enjoy a good cricket match at the stadium .
