Sir Vidia ready for $20,000 ‘claimer’

SIR VIDIA showed he has recovered from his exertions in the Royal Oak Derby when breezing on the exercise course at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Wednesday. The Shaffique Khan-trained chestnut colt seems to thrive on his races and looked none the worse for last week’s run by posting 36.95 seconds over the last 600 metres of the main course. The son of Researching/Blaze Of Glory with 17 starts under his belt this season is set to make another appearance in an Optional Claimimg $20,000 event on the Arima Race Club’s nine-race programme at racing headquarters tomorrow. Confirmed has a dislike for the boxes but showed that if he overcomes this  problem he could be a force among the lower ranks. The Jagdis Suratsingh-owned and trained gelding sent for a schooling session at the boxes showed some spark in posting 36.05 seconds between the 1200 and 600 metres markers on the same morning. Finest Gem, Fantastic Lad and Full Of Promises sharpened up for their turf engagement from the top of the straight.

The trio racing in owner/trainer Hardol Chadee’s colours, sped over the 400 metres trip in 22.55 seconds, which was best on time for the distance on the morning. Millenium Dancer, targetting the same 1100 metres event as the trio, darted out  the boxes to record 24.50 seconds for a similar gallop.
Yesterday was the turn of Soul Asylum, Zalyan and Seymour Harbour to show their well-being. The unraced trio went to acquaint themselves with the boxes and showed they were very keen. Soul Asylum jumped off best of  the lot and  maintained the advantage for the first 400 metres, and  continued her run to register 1:15.70 seconds over 1200 metres. Her companions were checked after completing 400 metres, with  Zalyan being timed in  23.98 seconds and Seymour Harbour 24.96.
