Arima trounce Green Machine 7-0

ARIMA and Naparima remained on course to claim  the East and South Zone titles of the 2003 British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL). The “Dial Dynamos” Arima annihilated nearest challengers, the “Green Machine” of St Augustine 7-0 at St Augustine, while Naps staged a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Mayaro at Union Hall, Marabella. Jeremy Douglas gave Mayaro the lead midway into the first half but Ancil Farrier and Kezi Lara got the decisive strikes for Naps. Naps now hold an eight-point lead over St Benedict’s and need only a win in their final three matches to capture the zonal crown. Benedict’s battled to an exciting 2-2 draw with Fyzabad while both matches at Skinner Park, San Fernando, ended in draws with  Pleasantville being 1-1 by cellar-placed Presentation, and Princes Town drew 0-0 with Vessigny. A hat-trick by David Noel gave Central Zone leaders Carapichaima a 6-0 triumph over Chaguanas at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, with Anderson Bryce, Michael Bedassie and Keegan Castillo adding one each,  while champs Presentation mauled Tabaquite 9-0 at Chaguanas.

And Signal Hill regained the lead in Tobago following a 14-0 demolition of Bishop’s at Shaw Park, while Elizabeth’s breezed past Roxborough 6-2. The “Westmoorings Tigers” St Anthony’s also regained the lead  in North afteer an 8-1 pasting of Morvant/Laventille, QRC drew 0-0 with Mucurapo at Fatima Grounds. Malick were held to a 1-1 draw by St Mary’s at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, and Diego Martin edged sliding Fatima 2-1 at Diamond Vale. In other East zone matches, El Dorado and  San Juan drew 0-0 at El Dorado, St George’s shut out Hillview 5-0 at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna, with  double; from Kempess Villafana and one each from Marlon White, Marlon St Louis and Jamal Lewis, while Barataria whipped Toco 4-1 at Barataria. Gorean “Mickey Rat” Highley and Dorian Daniel scored  doubles; Jemmiel Smith,  Keston Henry, and Devon King completed the scoring.
