Bulls make late charge for east football crown

Hearty Food Bulls are making a serious late charge towards the Arthur “Jap” Brown Trophy in the Eastern Football Association competition. At the Arima Municipal Stadium on Thursday, the Bulls showed they are to be taken very seriously when they shut out Crab Connection 3-0, with goals from Anslem Coa, Kevin Daniel and Calvin Chance. But current league leaders Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan are not letting up, as they thumped East/West Coaching School 4-0 at Five Rivers, Arouca, with Wendell Isaac scoring a double and Dexter Joslyn and Kerwyn Patrick adding the other goals. Last season’s runners-up Carib FC leap-frogged both idle defending champs WASA Clean and White and The Crabs with a 3-1 triumph over Delta Glass Young Hearts at Boundary Road, San Juan.

Damien Pierre, Billy Dee Scanterbury and Kiev Van Loo got the winners’ goals, while Glenton Sebro scored the consolation. And Joe Public switched places with TSTT and Police with a 2-0 shut-out of JGS Maloney Two Touch on Winston Jones and Jardeno Theobald goals at Squadron ground, Arouca. The lawmen and the telecommunications lads drew 1-1 at Valsayn. Dave Marchan scored for TSTT and ex-national striker Dexter Cyrus equalised for Police. Meanwhile, The Crabs get an early chance to avenge their defeat by the Bulls, when they meet again in the EFA League Cup when action begins on Tuesday with five matches on schedule. Fixtures: East/West Coaching School vs Police, at Five Rivers; Carib FC vs Delta Glass Young Hearts, at St. Augustine; Hearty Foods Bulls vs Crab Connection, at Arima Municipal Stadium; BM Spurs vs Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan United, at Aranguez; TSTT vs WASA Clean & white, at Valsayn.
